Turkish-American Community Center (TACC), a non-profit organization, was founded in 2003 and is based in Greenbelt, Maryland. TACC is an extension of the Turkish-American Islamic Foundation (TAIF), which was founded in 1993. With TACC’s current facilities, and many more to be constructed in the future, the organization’s goal is to strengthen relations within the Turkish community around the Washington DC Metropolitan Area as well as to reach out and teach the community we live in about our Turkish heritage. We aim to provide familiar faces and familiar places in order to support the many needs of the Turkish-American community. Our current facilities include a Mescit, a meeting salon with kitchen and lavatory facilities, a picnic area, and a soccer field. Our near-future plans include constructing a “Cultural Center” complete with a high-capacity Mosque, a convention center, a library, classrooms, and an activity/sports center.
TACC is a non-profit organization that operates completely within Maryland State Laws. All contributions to TACC are tax-deductible under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. TACC is also in full cooperation with the Republic of Turkey, Division of Religious Affairs, who provide the TACC facilities’ grounds. Our Imam, Kerim Birinci, who runs the Mescit, and supports the community with all of the religious and spiritual needs and questions, is also funded by the Republic of Turkey, Ministry of Religion.
TACC has been established entirely with the help and contributions of its many members and continues to function under their guidance. All of our accomplishments, including the efforts of our board members, are a result of volunteer work, which is the key component of our success. TACC’s robust and flexible infrastructure enables us to manage the many needs of our members, and allows for future improvements and growth. Our close relationship with the many successful and recognized members allows us to effectively respond, assist, and cooperate with all that turns to TACC for assistance.
TACC holds periodic meetings and events during many holidays including; Republic of Turkey government holidays, religious holidays (special events during Ramazan and Kurban Holidays), and certain US government holidays. Most of these events are free. Some events are potluck to enable everyone to contribute to the events and the community. Everyone, member or not, is invited to join and enjoy the festivities planned for the day or night. You can see what events are planned for the near future by visiting our TACC Events page.
At, TACC we take pride in serving our members and hope to exceed their expectations with their most sincere inputs. We hope to celebrate many fruitful years together and hope to share the joy of expanding our reach and our facilities in the upcoming years.
